Trees for the Queen!
In order to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, selected students planted 70 laurel trees around our border. Students developed key life skills of resilience (some of the ground was tough to break up in order to establish optimum planting conditions), teamwork (by managing the work load evenly, and calculating appropriately), independence (by forking and digging individual holes for plants), communication (to calculate and determine the spacing between the hedging plants) and problem solving (calculating the optimum spacing distances between plants)... as well as developing their understanding of Maths (calculating gaps and ratios) and Science (by looking at plant life cycles).
A huge thank you to Miss Kelsall and Miss Lockett, as well as to our wonderful site team for leading on this wonderful experience to celebrate the Queen's service to our country - a lasting reminder for future UCS generations.
