UCS Unlocks Day 1

Friday, 7th October was the date of our first ever UCS Unlocks Day. Read more about this aspect our of curriculum here. Our students went on experiences linked directly to our curriculum with:

  • Year 7 visiting Jodrell Bank and The Anderton Centre.

  • Year 8 visiting The Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford, home of Manchester United.

  • Year 9 visiting Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring a village and mill built around the Leeds-Liverpool canal, similar to their home town of Bolton, and now home to the largest David Hockney art collection in Europe.

  • Year 10 undertook some physical and mental training at Farmer Strong.

  • And Year 11 undertook workshops with Milk Education, looking at Diversity and Mental Health.

Images from each of our curriculum experiences, along with a brief description of their curriculum links can be seen using the hyperlinks above for each year group.

The day was a huge success, and thanks go to both students and staff for ensuring that students not only got the foundation knowledge that will bring their learning to life, but also developed key skills and life skills that will set them apart at interview in their next steps of education or employment.
